Yoga flow as we know was primarily born from warrior actions and stances. The internal therapeutic techniques comprised ancient hatha yoga, with standing and power poses integrated and synthesized in more recent centuries up to our time on the mat now in the spirit of self-refinement and optimal life performance and the enjoyment of our humanity.
This workshop is flow based with an emphasis from Duncan sensei to reach as many yogis as possible in the room with ongoing master adjustments to enhance awareness of the direction of the pose’s purpose that reveals how and when to breathe, as well as which muscles to contract and which to extend, and where the balance point of the pose is.
Day 001 Warrior Flow: Unlearn how to move improperly to eliminate pain and limitation and learn exactly how you are designed to move fluidly with a balance of grace and power. The focus will be on structural alignment, movement and some wicked kung-fu maneuvers to educate your friends how to bow to their sensei and carry your towel to the studio waaaah!!
Bodywork, also known as massage therapy, is an essential part of our peak physical experience on earth, and in no way a luxury, rather like yoga, bodywork is part of a yogi lifestyle that allows freedom of movement and optimized personal power.
This workshop is flow based with a balance of self-massage techniques as well as a partner flow adjustment sequence that is reciprocated between partners. Changing to new partners with each new technique offered is encouraged to diversify your experience and ultimate ability from exposure to various body types in the room. Each day the afternoon session will be a yin based healing flow followed by area focused partner bodywork on offer.
Day 001 Thai Therapy Techniques will target core tension release points along the spine, hip traction and a leg work routine, that results in reducing and eliminating lower back pain, and creating decompression in the sacral and lumbar spine.
These techniques are pleasurable and take time to master, so if you are new to the practice you will be loving it, and if you are returning for more detail, experience and flavor to your style, even deeper insights and connections are formed with each encounter together under Duncan’s watchful eyes and caring hands.
After some time spent on the mat we all at times hit a ‘wall’ with our practice and pose development. If your desire for solid arm balance to power practice is challenging you, then this workshop is important for you to experience.
This workshop is flow based and challenging but in a rewarding way, as it employs the real wall as our best friend and guide to work the specific 90 degree supported approach between the floor and the wall to achieve previously seemingly impossible or daunting arm balance poses that include handstands, crow and side crow type power poses, which also involve some partner supported adjustment options.
To provide as many yogis as possible with access to these empowering and healing deep poses, we will begin on our forearms with our backs to the wall and walking up the wall backwards, as the intelligent first step to familiarize ourselves with our balance, support and inner strength capacity awareness.
Day 002 Wall Core Flow will be a great way to familiarize yourself with gravity resistance and a firm understanding of the base foot roots into the wall. An added benefit is that the time spent on the wall greatly improves inner core strength and sense of balance and accomplishment that results from sincere effort. Also, your attention and focus sense skills will skyrocket to new meditative level of calm intensity that will impress not only you but also those around you.
Welcome to an exploration in the field of healing through a mindful approach to body alignment and energetic wellness that provides an environment for optimal release of deeply locked tension and blocked energy to ensure the best use of our time together to awaken renewed vitality, while exchanging pain for power and freedom in our body-mind expression of the heart.
This workshop begins as a Thai Flow Therapy based practice (supported stretch poses and self-massage applications that prepare us for body work. It will be emphasized on a Thai partner therapy set for the upper body and lower mind, or original mind (Samurai named as ‘no mind’ or Zen mind).
Day 002 Thai Therapy Techniques will target core tension release points along the upper thoracic spine, inner shoulder-blades and shoulder joint decompression, resulting in greater range of motion in the shoulders and spine, as a well as reduced pain in the upper back, shoulders and neck.
If the mood is right we can choose a practice partner, share some pure cacao to activate the good vibe and try freestyle flow technique based on what was learned in the room or even as you feel with the mutual consent of your given partner. If it gets hot there may be a next room wine tasting for preregistered wine lovers, or even relocate the chosen to a sweet wine and food spot we will all love dearly and make it a night. When in Styria . . .
This workshop is flow based and as mentioned in Wall Core Flow Part 001, it bears repeating: it will be challenging but in a good way, as we continue to explore the specific 90 degree supported approach between the floor and the wall to achieve previously unapproachable arm balance poses that include handstands & scorpion (handstand with bent knees) based power poses, which will require some partner supported wall adjustments. To provide as many players as possible with access to these empowering and healing deep poses, we will begin on our forearms with our backs to the wall and walking up the wall backwards, as the intelligent first step to familiarizing ourselves with our balance, support and inner strength capacity awareness.
Day 003 Wall Core Flow will be a highly healing and revealing insights and aspects of how to remove the fear and pain from outstanding arm balance poses, with the help of gravity, comprehensive postural modifications, instructed help from classmates, and of course a dose of badd-ass-ery.
Expect to walk away informed with a renewed approach to life and practice as the go hand-in-hand on this path of self-excellence and as spark of joy with love for humanity and a sense of purpose through comYunaty !
